straight outta Compton
The film straight outta Compton was announced in late 2009. The film depicts the rise and fall of the rap group NWA and its members Eazy-E, Dr Dre and Ice Cube. The budget for the movie was $28 million and in the end they made around $200 million from. members from the rap group that helped in produce the movie are dr. dre, ice cube and Eazy-E's widow, Tomica Woods-Wright. ice cube is also played by his real life son o'shea Jackson jr.

Kick-starter is a funding platform for creative projects. Every project creator sets their project's funding goal and deadline. If people like the project, they can pledge money to make it happen.
looking on kick starter i saw people trying to animated movies for example amines (a style of Japanese film and television animation, typically aimed at adults as well as children).
i personally probably wouldn't invest in a kick started movie or song as i would have to be really invested into the artist or director and that is not really what kick starter is about.

Veronica Mars
Veronica Mars was a crowdfunded film on Kick-starter. it broke the record for the highest number of backers. it was also the first project to reach $1 million and $2 million with the most project backers in Kick-starter history. this shows us that if you have a good idea other people will buy into it and it doesn't matter if you don't have loads of money.
